A Tropical Concept Night in Phuket – When a Press Conference Becomes a Show

What if the annual corporate update did not feel corporate at all?

For this year’s Metadee Appreciation Night, we decided to rethink one of the most familiar formats in hospitality: the traditional press conference.

No podium. No sequence of formal speeches. No microphone passed from one stakeholder to another.

Instead, Emerald Hall became a television studio for one night, blending the atmosphere of a 1960s live show, tropical-chic styling, music, conversation and a podcast-inspired format designed to make people listen differently.

The idea was simple: the stories, achievements and perspectives that would normally appear in a corporate presentation were still there, but the way they were told changed completely.

Stakeholders became guests of the show. The MC became a host rather than an announcer. Business topics became conversations, with prepared questions opening the door to spontaneous exchanges, opinions and unexpected moments.

Between discussions, live music, interactive segments, awards and performances changed the rhythm of the evening, allowing the event to move continuously between information and entertainment.

A Different Kind of Corporate Stage

At the centre of the concept was Emerald Television, our fictional broadcasting world created especially for the night.

Vintage television references, studio lighting, lounge seating, graphic details and a strong red, black and white visual identity transformed Emerald Hall without hiding what the venue actually is.

That was important.

The room did not become an artificial event set disconnected from the hotel. Instead, its different possibilities became part of the production itself: a conversation space, a stage, a live entertainment venue and a place where guests could move naturally between networking and the show.

Perhaps this is also what made the experiment interesting.

A corporate event does not necessarily need to look corporate.

A conference does not necessarily need to feel like a conference.

And sometimes the best way to communicate what happened during a year is simply to create a setting where people genuinely want to hear the story.

Behind the Broadcast

The photographs and films that you will find in this page, will capture some of the evening as it happened, from the transformation of Emerald Hall to the conversations, performances, people and unscripted moments that could never have appeared in a PowerPoint presentation.

Because for one night, we were not holding a press conference.

We were on air.
